A leading professional services firm in Ireland is currently seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Internal Tax to oversee the organisation’s internal tax operations. This is a key leadership position reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), with responsibility for managing tax function of the Firm.
This opportunity offers a hybrid working model with flexibility to be based in either Dublin or Cork.
Key Responsibilities:
- Internal Tax Oversight: Lead all aspects of the firm’s internal tax compliance requirements, ensuring full adherence to Irish tax legislation.
- Tax Reporting: Manage the accurate and timely preparation and submission of tax returns to the Irish Revenue.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary liaison with Irish tax authorities, addressing queries and managing audits.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with finance, legal, and internal tax teams to maintain aligned and effective tax processes.
- Global Coordination: Interface with global tax counterparts to ensure consistent approaches and best practice sharing.
- Process & Technology Enhancement: Spearhead initiatives to automate and optimise tax reporting systems.
- Risk Management: Identify potential tax risks and recommend strategies to mitigate them.
- Training & Development: Build internal tax awareness through training sessions and ongoing support.
- Policy Creation: Assist in the development and enforcement of internal tax policies and compliance procedures.
Candidate Profile:
- Experience: Minimum of 8–10 years in a tax compliance or advisory role, with solid exposure to Employment Taxes, VAT, Corporation Tax, and Benefits in Kind.
- Expertise: Strong knowledge of Irish tax legislation and compliance obligations; experience managing tax for partnerships or large entities preferred.
- Qualifications: Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional tax qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or CTA is highly desirable.
- Skills: Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, with a track record of leading teams and managing complex projects.
